Weddings

We’re delighted you’re thinking of celebrating your wedding with us and will be pleased to help in whatever way we can. Each of our churches has their own character and we will do everything we can to make your day as special and unique to you as we can.

There are some things about marrying in church that you just can't get anywhere else. Marrying in church is personal, meaningful, spiritual and beautiful, just as you want it to be. We believe marriage is a gift from God but it does also involve a big commitment! You are standing in front of God, your family and your friends and making a promise to each other. That means a commitment to forgiving each other when the harder times come. We know that life is full of ups and downs but the joy of marriage is that you have someone alongside you during those times to celebrate with you and to comfort you.

One of my favourite children’s books says it like this:

Two wonderful ones had found a forever, and forever is great when you spend it together.
And now, side-by-side, they heard the same tune, so they sung to the stars and they danced to the moon
Yes deep in the heart of Wintermouse Wood, a friend by your side makes life twice as good.”

Finding your ‘other’ as it is put in that book is a wonderful gift and we want to celebrate that with you. We also want to support you to start your marriage off well and be there for you if you need us down the line. We’d love to talk to you about your wedding so if you are looking to get married in one of our churches please fill in the details below and we’ll get in touch with you.

Once we’ve been in touch and got the ball rolling, whoever is taking your service will be in touch to arrange a time to meet up, talk through the service, set a date for the rehearsal and answer any questions you might have. In the meantime, there is lots of helpful information here about Church of England weddings and blessings.

Some married couples will wish to celebrate an important wedding anniversary with a thanksgiving for marriage in church. Others, for various reasons, may wish to re-affirm their marriage vows or dedicate their marriage following a civil ceremony.  In the first instance, please contact our Parish Office (details below the form).
