Thank you for sending in some of your favourite prayers. This is the result.

With best wishes.

A prayer for Early Morning
Dear God,so far today
I've done all right —
I have n't gossiped,
I have n't lost my temper
I have n't lied or cheated
I have n't been greedy, grumpy
Nasty, selfish or over indulgent.
I'm very thankful for that
But in a few minutes, Lord,
I'm getting out of bed
And from then on, I'm probably
Going to need a lot more help !

Getting on with the ordinary jobs
Lord of the pots and pipkins
Since I have no time to be
A Saint by doing lovely things and vigiling with Thee
By watching in the twilight dawn and storming Heaven's gates
Make me a saint by getting meals and washing up the plates.

For endurance under pressure
Lord, thou knowest what I have to do this day;
if I forget Thee, do Thou not forget me.
(Sir J. Astley)

for persisitence (ascr. Sir Francis Drake)
O Lord God, when thou givest to thy servants to endeavour in any great matter,
grant us to know that it is not at the beginning but in the continuing of the same unto the end,
until it be thoroughly finished, which yieldeth the true glory;
through him who for the finishing of thy work laid down his life, our Redeemer Jesus Christ. Amen

Dear Master in whose life I see
All that I long for but fail to be,
Let thy clear light for ever shine,
To shame and guide this life of mine
Though what I dream and what I do
In my poor days are always two,
Help me, oppressed by things undone,
O Thou, whose deeds and dreams were one! Anon

For peace and reconciliation in the world
All have sinned and fallen short of the glory of God
The hatred which divides nation from nation,- race from race, class from class —Father forgive.
The covetous desires of peoples and nations to possess what is not their own, —Father forgive
The greed which exploits the work of human hands and lays waste the earth— Father forgive.

(Coventry Cathedral)

Holy Spirit, hover above the chaos and make new this world.
Rest on us and change us,- give us peace that we may share it gladly.
- forgive our sins that we may forgive others gently.
 - send us out that we may care for the weak graciously.
Speak Peace where nations meet, Justice where ideas clash,
Mercy where power reigns; and love where churches seek your unity;
and wherever else Babel drowns out the sound of Pentecost.

Creative relations within everyday life
Lord make the old tolerant,
the young sympathetic,the great humble,
the busy patient,
Make rich people understanding,
strong people gentle ,make the religious loveable,
those who are weak prayerful;
happy folk thoughtful,
the bad good, the good pleasant,
and dear Lord, make me what I ought to be.
(G. and M.Harcourt)

A prayer for Healing
Lord of my darkest place. Let in your light.
Lord of my greatest fear Let in your peace;
Lord of my most bitter shame, Let in your word of grace;

Lord of my oldest grudge, Let in your forgiveness;
Lord of my deepest anger, Let it out.
Lord of my loneliest moment; Let in your presence.
Lord of my truest self - my all; Let in your wholeness.

At the Eucharist
Soul of Christ, sanctify me.
Body of Christ save me.
Blood of Christ inebriate me.
Water from the side of Christ,wash me .
Passion of Christ strengthen me.
O good Lord Jesus, hear me.
Within thy wounds hide me.
Suffer me not to be separated from thee.
From the malignant enemy defend me.
In the hour of my death call me.
And bid me come to thee.
That with thy Saints,

I may praise thee,
for ever and ever. Amen.
( attrib.. St Ignatius Loyola)

Queen Elizabeth's doctrine

"What thy word hath made it,
that I believe, and take it "
Let us offer our thanks to our Heavenly Father for His great gift of life,
with its joys and responsibilities, its experiences and opportunities.
We praise you for good health, daily food, and the love and loyalty of our family and friends.
We bless you for work honestly done, the truth we have learned and the good we have been able to achieve.

We thank you for the teaching and example of our Lord Jesus Christ, and His presence with us always.
Help us to express our thanks, not only in our praises, but in the lives we lead.
Through Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen

Teaching and Learning
A prayer of Thomas a Kempis Grant Lord to all who study and those who teach them,
The Grace to love that which is worth loving, To know what is worth knowing To value what is most precious in your eyes
Give them a true sense of judgement, And the wisdom
To see underneath the surface of things. Above all, may they search out and do, What is pleasing to you . Amen
Time for bed
Dear God, please look after me and my family, and help us to be kind to one another"

Gentle Jesus, meek and mild, Look upon a little child.
Pity my simplicity,
Suffer me to come to Thee,
thro' the darkness be Thou near me
Keep me safe 'til morning light— Amen

O Lord, support us all the day long of this troublous life, until the shades lengthen and the evening comes, and the busy world   is hushed, the fever of life is over and our work is done.
Then, Lord, in Thy mercy, grant us a safe lodging, a holy rest, and peace at the last;
through Jesus Christ our Lord, Amen.

Lighten our darkness Lord we pray and in your mercy defend us from all perils and dangers of this night for the love of your only Son,
our Saviour Jesus Christ   Amen

May the Divine Assistance remain with us always.
