We warmly welcome you to join us at any of our services
WHAT’S NEW
For our December walk we set off down to the river from the Flower Pot in Aston passing
an enclosure with chickens and brightly arrayed cockerels. It was a bright, cold
Saturday morning with many frozen puddles to negotiate. Turning towards Henley we
soon noticed the beautiful reflections of a row of trees in the still river water.
Later we were accompanied by many scullers and rowers who were out practising (mostly
women!).
A large flock of Canada geese took off near Temple Island so it was fun trying to
capture pictures of them in flight. Every so often along our route we stopped to
sing Carols (a December tradition) - Remenham Church got a double helping. Finally
we piled into the Flower Pot Pub for huge platefuls of food and a welcome sit down.
Thank
you Ros and Ian for another successful year of walks.

Parish Walk December
January Parish Walk
A Bring and Share lunch was the answer when it was discovered by the January Parish
Walkers that the pub would be shut on the Monday Bank Holiday. Elaine rose to the
occasion, throwing open her home to receive the ‘Bring' before the walk, and the
‘Share' when the walkers returned. The walk, starting and ending in Hurley, was bathed
in dazzling sunshine throughout, somewhat mitigating the chill January breeze that
still kept everyone well wrapped up. It took the 21 of us along the Thames from the
lock towards Henley, returning by the back lanes.
Lunch exceeded any expectations we might have had of a pub lunch, and has now been
declared a Parish Tradition, as has the afternoon spent working on one of Elaine's
jigsaw puzzles. Thank you Elaine for your hospitality, and thank you Ros and Ian
for organising the walk and fitting it in the day before you set off for the Amazon.
We hope your trip will not give you too many ideas about where to take us in February!
