SERVICES - SOMETHING FOR EVERYBODY BURCHETTS GREEN PARISH has a variety of services why not come and visit us, you will be very welcome. Check the service times ? Find a service you know you will be comfortable at or look for a service which is new for you and come and join us. New Pattern of Services from February 2010 A new pattern of services, which will commence in February, has been discussed with each church’s Local Committee and agreed with the P.C.C. A letter from the vicar explaining the need to change the pattern of services and a leaflet about the new services is available at the back of each church. The service pattern from February 2010 will be as follows.

In continuing to worship this way we connect with past generations and gain a sense of continuity in a rapidly changing world. The beauty of the language is widely reckoned to be amongst the best ever penned in English. The truth about God and ourselves expressed in these services is timeless. Please join us at these historic services that still resonate today. services using the well remembered and traditional language of the 1662 Prayer Book. CW (Common Worship) services using modern language. COME AND WORSHIP!Parish Service is an opportunity for all our church family to worship together around the communion. Members of all three churches will run the service and over the year it will be a genuine marrying of the various worship styles used around the parish. Children will join in the first part of the service before going to the Soltau Centre for children’s groups and will rejoin the service for a final blessing. 8am Holy Communion BCP (Book of Common Prayer) is a traditional service using well remembered language, The epistle is read and the intercessions are led by lay people.there are no hymns but a short 'thought for the day' is included. If you would like a blessing instead of communion (for example, if you have not been confirmed) just hold the service booklet in your hand when you kneel at the altar rail. Holy Communion CW is a standard Common Worship service of Holy Communion, two lessons read by lay people and lay lead intercessions, four hymns with organist and full sermon. Communion Together A shorter (45 minute) less formal communion service suitable for all. All-Age ‘Special’ An informal services for adults and children with a special theme depending on the season. A Meditative Communion Communion with Prayer for Healing and Renewal. Songs of Praise A service based on music and singing. Family Services are short informal services of worship lasting 30-40 minutes. All the elements of a service are present in abbreviated form with energetic action songs. These services are fun for old and young alike, with a simple but meaningful message. Everyone is welcome. Matins (Morning Prayer) is a traditional service accompanied by the parish choir. The service includes the singing of the Venite and the Te Deum and uses tradition language from the Book of Common Prayer. ![]() Holy Communion BCP (with hymns) is a traditional Holy Communion service, with three readings, (two read by lay people) four hymns (with an organist), lay lead intercessions and a full sermon. Evensong is a well loved service from the Book of Common Prayer using traditional language, it has hymns and the parish choir sings. Holy Communion each Wednesday is a traditional quiet mid week service using the Book of Common Prayer, short homily, no music. Everyone is welcome, if you would like a blessing instead of communion just hold your service booklet when at the altar rail. The Healing Service held regularly at St Mary the Virgin Hurley is a quiet Common Worship Communion Service with the opportunity for the Laying on of Hands if you wish, meditative music, prayers for healing and a short address by the Minister. For children we have Sunday school on the first Sunday and third Sunday at Stubbings. The children join in the first part of the 10:30am Parish Service before going to the Soltau Centre, returning for the final blessing. At the 11:15am Holy Communion Service children meet in the Soltau Centre and join the service for a blessing. A creche is available at both Services. For babies and toddlers... Pebbles , our informal, play-centred service, welcomes babies and pre-school children and their parents and carers to the Soltau Centre, Stubbings on Tuesdays at 10:30 and Hurley on Thursdays 10:30. Both are wonderful opportunities to join together in a fun environment, to sing, pray and dance, as well as listen to a short, colourful story about Jesus and his life. And, of course, there's time to get the toys out, chat and have a coffee. A crech is available at other Services, see above. There are always special, extra services for festivals as well.
